books
I do not hate books i love them i love to read i love the fact a book can inspire the imagination through its stories. but when i see a book that is old and lifeless with pages missing, ripped and faded i love to bring it back to life by giving them a new life. i started just working with paper but i love the texture of the pages of old book and i love to see the text on the sculptures that i make.
I love to take something like a book and turning it in to something visually pleasing. With book sculpture I like the fact that books are flat and square they have order but by cutting them and folding them you can create organic and random shapes. I also like to add colour for a more visual effect.
I have been creating paper crafts and book sculptures for over ten years now. i started just working with paper. exsperimenting with texture and colour but it was books that really seemed to be fun to work with. I enjoyed the challenge of turning a house hold object in too a piece of art.
A lot of these sculptures where made purely for photographs but have also been sold as sculptures in there own right.
